Have Your Hardwood Floors Lost Their Appeal? Our Fort Wayne Wood Floor Cleaning Specialists Have the Solution

Many Fort Wayne hardwood flooring homeowners have asked us how often should they clean their wood floors. Keystone Hardwood Floor Care recommends that homeowners clean at least once a week. As for professional deep cleaning, we recommend having them serviced once or twice a year.

We are dedicated to providing our clients with a wide range of proven cleaning solutions. To keep their visitor-ready appearance, wood surfaces require frequent cleaning and maintenance. No matter if you have solid hardwood, engineered hardwood planks, laminate, or vinyl, you can count on our team for professional contractor services in Allen County, Indiana.

Dirt, moisture, spills, and other factors contribute to the constant wear and tear in your woodwork. Modern wood planks tend to be prefinished with several thin coats of polymer or a factory-applied satin or gloss finish. By buffing them properly, these finishes can be enhanced or improved. By creating an individualized cleaning plan that fits your budget and schedule, we can ensure that the top coating remains intact and looks fantastic.

Frequently Asked Questions and Answers for Fort Wayne Homeowners

Most frequent questions and answers

It’s hard to say. A lot of companies who specialize in carpet cleaning may provide hardwood floor services as a side service. Unlike these companies, the only floors we specialze in are hardwood floors.

We’ve seen it all but we utilize commercial equipment specifically design to clean hardwood floors. Depending on the service, we start off with a deep cleaning buff pad that scrubs deep into the cracks and crevices of hardwood to lift grime and oils. Once extracted, we neutralize next and begin the polishing after that.

We feel that it’s not only worth it, but it is necessary. Everybody is different though, and some homeowners may be able to achieve a deep cleaning on their own.

Despite what the internet might say about this, we do not recommend cleaning wood floors with steam. Not only can it permanently damage your floor, but it could damage the protective layer as well.

We get this question a lot. When hardwood floors have a proper finish on them, they don’t any products to make them shine, as they should have the a clean and consistent sheen. As for a cleaner for properly finished floors, we recommend a pH neutral non-residue simple cleaner like Basic Coating Squeaky or Zep pH neutral floor cleaner. Neither of these products or any other cleaning agents should be used on unprotected bare wood floors.

We do not recommend this product for any hardwood floor applications.

Using a vacuum cleaner made for hard floor surfaces, you can vacuum as frequently as you would with carpet,

Unfortunately there are too many unknown variables to provide a one size fits all answer. Generally when hardwood floors have accumulated dirt and grime down into the grains, we recommend having them evaluated by a hardwood floor care professional. The first question that needs answered is if that grime and dirt is actually in the wood or on top of the finish. Once that has been answered, we’ll make deep cleaning recommendations from there.

Again, unlike random people on the internet, we can’t provide answers that will work for every situation.  That said, if your hardwood floor’s only problem is that they are slightly dull and it isn’t due to waxes, acrylic, oils, or other store-bought rejuvenators, you can use a microfiber mop and a pH neutral cleaner. The problem most homeowners face is there are half a dozen reasons wood floors can lose their shine. Without knowing what the culprit is, anything you do may only make it worse.

We do not recommend this product for any hardwood floor cleaning application.
